6 Highly Effective Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Business Blog
Many business owners understand the value of blogging. The more that do however, the harder it is to stand out from the crowd and increase your own audience.
To help you on your business blogging journey, this article contains six proven and effective methods to improve the odds that you will get more readers, more engagement and hopefully more customers.
Start with the basics
You should first check over your current blog and make sure you have all the basics covered. Short URL, simple navigation, engaging images and content that is error free.
The more business blog essentials you have, the better the chance that Google and other search engines will at least start ranking you better than some other blogs.
Promote using LinkedIn groups
No doubt you already share your latest posts on places such as Facebook and Twitter, however, have you taken the time to try building up new readership through LinkedIn groups?
Finding and joining the right groups is an excellent way for bloggers to get promoting. Make sure you meet the group guidelines however, and don’t be classed as a serial self promoter. Take time to engage with other members posts and be a generally good group citizen.
Don’t just focus on your latest posts
A common mistake amongst business bloggers, is to ignore previous posts. Yet, if you look at your analytics, you will often find that many of your older posts are still getting significant traffic and readership.
There are plenty of articles and case studies out there, showing how editing older blog posts can dramatically improve traffic and SEO.
Use your email signature
It’s likely you already have your business name and contact details at the bottom of every email you send. Try adding a link to your latest blog posts for a while, and see what that does to your reader numbers.
You can use UTM tags to ensure you can track exactly how many people are visiting your blog from your email signature as well.
Promote then re-promote
Clever bloggers know that evergreen content should be regularly re-promoted. One popular way to do that is to build internal links from one post to another, helping existing readers find new topics.
Another method to attract new readers is to re-promote using your social media channels. Start a schedule where you share each post every 30-90 days for a year or longer. It’s amazing how people will be attracted to a year old article this way.
Write blog posts for third party websites
This sounds counterintuitive in a way, but I assure you it isn’t. By writing guest posts for other blogs, you increase the chances that their audience will find our writing and want to read your own blog.
This, along with a strategic link in your writers bio, and perhaps links to our personal social media channels, means that you can start building an audience by using other blogs readers instead.
You can search for lists of blogs that accept guest posts, or just reach out to some of your favorite blogs and ask. You never know your luck!
In Summary
Writing a blog post is only the start of your challenge. By making promotion a step with every single post that you write, you will soon find that your readership is on the increase, and you are reaching new engagement levels.
Those six methods again, are;
Tick of the blog basics
-
- Promote using select LinkedIn groups
- Edit your older blog posts
- Add a link in your email signature
- Re-promote posts via your social media
- Find guest post opportunities
I wish you all the best in growing your business blog to new levels of success – enjoy the journey!
